Silent Disco: party sound straight to your ears

Headphones are part of the familiar street scene, but the sight of a silent disco is still strange: people dance, they sing and there is also the usual light show – but there is no music to be heard. A glance at the heads of the revelers provides the explanation: instead of a sound system, the partygoers are listening to headphones. This not only looks funny, but also has very real advantages.

Enter another floor without changing rooms

At a silent disco, visitors put on headphones with radio receivers. A DJ decides what music is played. The audio data is transmitted to the individual headphones via a transmitter system. The range depends on the premises, but 100 meters is usually not a problem. It is also possible to have several DJs perform at a silent disco. Visitors then decide which DJ they want to listen to by switching back and forth between two or even three channels – the “floor” is changed, so to speak, without physically leaving the room.

Conversations at room volume

A major advantage of the concept is that everyone can choose for themselves when and how loud they want to listen to which music. It also sounds equally good anywhere in the room, so nobody has to worry about the space directly in front of or under the speakers. Overdriven systems are also not a nuisance, and neighbors complaining about noise should not be a problem at silent discos – unless people are singing along too loudly. If you want to take a break from the music, you can simply take off your headphones. Then the conversations on the dance floor are much more relaxed.
